Water Quality Guide
Western North Carolina has some of the best water in the country, but our mountain water does have unique characteristics. Here's what you need to know about water quality in your home.

Hard Water in WNC
Hard water contains high levels of dissolved minerals, primarily calcium and magnesium. While not harmful to drink, hard water causes scale buildup in pipes and appliances, leaves spots on dishes, and makes soap less effective.
Signs include white scale buildup on faucets and showerheads, spots on dishes after washing, soap that doesn't lather well, dry skin and hair after showering, and reduced water heater efficiency.
Over time, mineral deposits build up inside pipes, reducing water flow and pressure. It also reduces water heater efficiency and lifespan by coating the heating elements with scale.
Water softeners exchange minerals for sodium, eliminating hardness. Water conditioners treat the water without salt. We can test your water and recommend the right solution for your home.
