Signs Your Water Heater Needs Attention
This could be a failed heating element (electric) or pilot light/thermocouple issue (gas). Often repairable, but on older units may indicate it's time for replacement.
Rust in your hot water usually means the anode rod needs replacing or the tank is corroding internally. If caught early, replacing the anode rod can extend tank life.
Sediment buildup on the bottom of the tank causes these sounds as water tries to heat through the layer. A flush may solve it, but heavy buildup could mean tank damage.
A leaking water heater is an emergency. Turn off power/gas and water supply, then call us immediately. Leaks from the tank itself usually mean replacement is needed.
Water heaters typically last 10-15 years. If yours is in this range and having issues, replacement is often more cost-effective than repair.
