Drain Cleaning FAQ

For most homes, we recommend professional drain cleaning once a year as preventive maintenance. However, if you have older pipes, lots of trees nearby, or a history of drain problems, more frequent cleaning may be beneficial.

The most common culprits are hair and soap scum in bathroom drains, grease and food particles in kitchen drains, and tree roots in main sewer lines. In older Asheville homes, we also see mineral buildup from our hard mountain water.

Chemical drain cleaners often only punch a small hole through the clog, which closes back up quickly. They also can't remove buildup along pipe walls. Professional hydro-jetting scours the entire pipe interior for long-lasting results.

Snaking (using a cable machine) is great for breaking through solid clogs like hair or debris. Hydro-jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the entire pipe, removing grease buildup, mineral deposits, and even tree roots.

Yes! Our hydro-jetting equipment can cut through tree roots that have invaded your sewer line. We can also use our camera to inspect the extent of root intrusion and recommend long-term solutions if needed.

What Customers Say

"Our kitchen drain had been slow for months and kept getting worse despite trying every product at the hardware store. Blue Ridge came out, ran a camera down the line, showed me the buildup on a screen, and hydro-jetted it clean. Drains perfectly now!"
